Canadian Grand Prix

Analysis :
Damon Hill came to Montreal in need of a solid performance and gave just that with a convincing win over Williams teammate Jacques Villeneuve. Coming home a quiet third was Jean Alesi in the Benetton while both McLarens made it to the finish with David Coulthard leading home Mika Hakkinen. The final point went to Jordan's Martin Brundle in his 150th GP start.
Micheal Schumacher's race was a disaster from the beginning as the Ferrari's starter failed on the grid and he was forced to start at the back. While teammate Eddie Irvine's car lasted just 2 laps, Schumacher was able to climb up to 7th before a halfshaft broke (and fell out the back of the car!) on his way out of the pits.
Notable non-finishers were Gerhard Berger who spun his Benetton, Jos Verstappen, both Ligiers and both Tyrrells - Mika Salo to another engine failure and Ukyo Katayama in a suicidal attempt to overtake Riccardo Rosset's TWR.

Just when we thought he might be choking, Damon Hill reasserted himself as the man to beat this season.
A couple more races like this and he'll have this thing wrapped up.
